Diamond Hero John Burns

Diamond Hero helping Age UK

  24 Apr 2020

Diamond Group have worked with Age UK for over three years, providing IT and Telecoms solutions as well as organising fundraising events in support of the charity.

John recently interviewed Parry Jenkins, Head of Homecare for Age UK Northumberland, as part of Diamond Discussions.  After the interview John asked if Diamond could help in any way by offering our services and vans.  Parry declined saying they should be OK but would keep us in mind.  However, the following day Parry called and asked if we could help and we were delighted to do so!

John said: “I always think it’s really important to give something back to the community, but during this time it’s more crucial than ever to get involved. I’m so proud of the Diamond Staff for offering to support Age UK Northumberland, especially those staff who are furloughed”.

Up steps Neil Aitchison, Business Development Executive at Diamond (pictured), the first ‘Hero’ from Diamond to volunteer and he has already been “on the road” helping to distribute over 300 care packages to residents in and around Northumberland who are self-isolating or unable to leave their house during lockdown.

Diamond Group, which is based in Team Valley, and their team are giving up their personal time to help and support Age UK Northumberland.

John added: It’s a great feeling to know we’re playing our part in what seems to be a call to action by all in the UK to tackle this wretched disease.”
