Diamond Group shortlisted in North East Charity Awards

Monday, April 6, 2020

Diamond has always supported charities and causes close to its heart. This year has seen that support focused firmly on local charity, Age UK Northumberland.

Through its dedication to Age UK Northumberland in 2018, Diamond Group has been shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding charity support by small to medium companies’ category of the North East Charity Awards - a real achievement and cause of great excitement in the company.

Working to support older people in the area, the charity is one that business owner and Managing Director, John Burns, holds close to his heart.

Sadly, it’s a well-known fact that many older people across the North East are lonely – something Age UK Northumberland is working to reduce. In May, Diamond Group welcomed a number of the charity’s service users to its office in Team Valley, for a home-cooked meal, bingo and entertainment.

The company announced a three-year partnership with the charity earlier this year, to provide technology services and training to its staff. This will save the charity around £90,000 over the period of the contract, a significant sum that can be spent helping those in need of support.

In August, Diamond Group used its corporate golf day to raise funds for the charity, raising a fantastic £1,200.

Rachel Todd, head of income generation and marketing at Age UK has provided the following testimonial: “Diamond Group has made a real difference to our charity. The training the company has provided means our staff can work more efficiently and it’s reassuring to know that the Diamond Group service team is on hand when we need them.

“We’re so grateful to the company for its other contributions, too. The lunch that was put on for our service users was really enjoyable and brightened the guests’ day – one lady said that she hadn’t had such a good weekend in years! Diamond Group has chosen to raise money through its corporate golf day for our charity which is hugely appreciated. Every penny will go towards helping older people throughout Northumberland.

Diamond Group is continuing its commitment by sponsoring a table at the Age UK Northumberland Annual Dinner, to be held in October.

The winner will be announced at the glittering awards night on Thursday October 11th at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield. Fingers crossed!
